Why Twins in Preschool?

E-mail Print PDF

One of the goals of TeachingTwins.com is to share the results of my doctoral study with parents, educators, and the academic community. My dissertation, titled A Descriptive Study of Academic and Practitioner Perceptions Identifying Program Practices Meeting the Unique Needs of Twins in Center-Based Preschools, can be found here on the site along with summaries and notes about the findings.

Two reasons define my determination to study twins in preschool as my doctoral dissertation topic. First, I have been a professional in the field of early childhood education since 1967. Secondly, the birth of my daughters in 1977 ignited my interest in twins and their development. Well into the dissertation process and with the selected topic of twins in preschool already established, the birth of my twin grandsons in 2007 significantly and joyously endorsed my dedication

The dissertation topic established opportunities for me to gather research-based information about twins and provide early childhood educators with definitive and practical knowledge. The increasing twin population and the expanding acceptance of preschool attendance substantiated my commitment. The dissertation offers an early childhood perspective about twin-specific information.
